Holding the hands of Rev. Drs. Mark Buntain and Huldah Buntain, Mercy Hospital was founded in 1977. The organisation has evolved from a small clinic to a multi-specialty hospital with 173 beds, 22 specialty units and 10 community clinics which has been diligently serving more than 100,000 patients each year. Maintaining the mission to provide free healthcare facilities to 40% of the patients over four decades, Mr. Sanjay Prasad, President & CEO, with his noteworthy leadership is expanding the hospital’s mission in volumes while setting the quality standards for healthcare management in Kolkata and its surrounding regions. Founders Rev. Drs. Mark and Huldah Buntain, moved to Kolkata as missionaries in the year 1954. Since then they helped poor and needy people with medical treatments with compassion day & night. They believed in helping each and every ‘Children of God’ and thus this formed the basic foundation of the hospital. The hospital’s logo symbolises with a gesture ‘Arpan’, meaning to offer in Hindi and Bengali. The logo symbolizes a self-sacrificial offering.
